– Beer hall and garden concept to honor German heritage of New Braunfels and previous history of Krause’s Café –

New Braunfels, TX (October 26, 2016) – Krause’s Café, a New Braunfels historic restaurant opened in 1938 and successfully run until 1995, is excited to announce its grand (re) opening under new ownership. Slated to open in November 2016, Krause’s Café will honor the previous traditions of the restaurant with the addition of a ‘bierhalle and ‘biergarten,’ live music, and more.

“We are so thrilled to be bringing back such an iconic restaurant of New Braunfels,” said Ron Snider, owner of Krause’s Café and founder of the highly popular New Braunfels Farmers Market. “We are looking forward to integrating the restaurant into the German traditions of the city by adding a beer hall with banners showcasing the crests of New Braunfels’ founding families.”

The menu will reflect New Braunfels’ German heritage with items like a Reuben sandwich and sausage sampler plate with four traditional mustard options, as well as South Texas flavors with items such as house made biscuits and a mushroom hash. Over 70 beers will be available on tap with local, regional, and international options. The restaurant will also feature cocktails and wines on tap.

Gene Krause opened “Gene’s Place” on New Braunfels’ Plaza in 1938. During its time, it was a modern storefront. In 1948, it relocated to Castell Avenue as Krause’s Cafe. It was home to the iconic ‘Stammtisch’ (German for “regulars’ table”) table, where many of the city’s leaders met and made decisions for New Braunfels. Gene’s son, Kermit Krause, took over operations in 1959, continuing the family tradition until the late 90’s.

“Krause’s Café will be nearly 11,000 square feet,” said Jeremy Rader, Krause’s Café’s General Manager. “Guests can expect some bold flavors from the kitchen, but also all the fun that comes with a beer hall, and the chance to try beers from all over the world.”

“I’m so thrilled to be part of this team and have the opportunity to develop customized events for this wonderful space,” said Nicole Heath, Operations and Events Manager for Krause’s Café. “Through our programming, combined with our extensive food and beverage offerings, we hope to become a spot locals are proud of, as well as a must-visit venue when traveling through this part of Texas.”

Krause’s Café’s is located at 186 S Castell Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130, next to the New Braunfels Farmers Market. The market will continue to occur every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with special activations and crossover events with Krause’s Café.

Official opening date coming soon.
